White Oak Farm offers apprenticeship opportunities for individuals interested in organic gardening, permaculture design, natural building and children's education. Previous experience with these activities is not a requirement; however, we ask that serious applicants be motivated to observe, ask questions, work hard, and communicate clearly. While the apprenticeship is an informal, hands-on learning experience, we do ask that applicants make a commitment to working with the farm for the entire growing season (April-October). Apprentices gain knowledge while working alongside experienced gardeners, builders, and educators and while living in community with farm staff.
Apprentices play a vital role in making sure our small family farm community functions well. The season commitment is to work full time, 4 days/week. Everyone shares in the household tasks of cooking and housekeeping. Healthy food, a hot shower, and a simple campsite are available to apprentices during residency. Two one-week vacations can be arranged at appropriate times. All interested individuals should write to us at: info@whiteoakfarmcsa.org. Please describe yourself, including any prior experience with homesteading/farming and/or community living. We are open to shorter stays on the farm, and request that all apprentices visit the farm prior to residency. The apprenticeship positions have been filled for 2004. |
